It would be awesome if any object could be a light source, with a few options around the type of light, the strength of light etc.

Me too! but there are some downsides to the lighting, though. you would have to put light sources everywhere that’s indoors.

Note that there is a Javascript property called BaseItem.highlight in the Developer API which hasn’t made it into the Public API yet, which could be used to make Light Sources.
