I’m earning my degree in high school English Education and I have spent the last couple years slowly acquiring Y.A. novels so that I have plenty to choose from inside my classroom. I’ll be student teaching this fall and graduating in December so I want to start adding books to my Amazon wishlist to be bought as graduation presents.
What Y.A. novels were formative in your adolescence? Which ones would get a non-reader hooked? Challenging reads for advanced readers? As always, we aim for culturally responsive novels and I definitely want a wide variety of diverse authors! Don’t feel limited my traditional print, either, reading is reading and a text is a text, graphic novels, comic books, etc. are all welcome!
